Looking for participants

Heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases: BLOVO-CVD1 – Blood volume determination in heart failure

We are looking for people between the ages of 18 and 90 with heart disease, risk factors or the presence of heart disease for a scientific study.

Aim of the study

We determine the blood volume in patients with heart failure and compare these results with those of people with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and healthy people.

Who can take part in the study?

People between the ages of 18 and 90. People with heart disease, risk factors or in the presence of heart disease. You cannot take part if you have ocular hypertension (glaucoma), another advanced eye disease (e.g. laser sclerotherapy of the retina), an active inflammation (e.g. flu-like infection) or pregnancy.

Procedure and duration of the study

The study takes place on a single date and lasts approximately 1 hour. You will undergo a clinical examination and a blood sample will be taken. This is followed by blood volume measurement. To do this, you lie down and breathe for approx. 15 minutes through a mouthpiece into a tube system which is connected to the specially developed measuring system. The method itself is non-invasive and is generally very well tolerated. A small amount of blood (approx. 2 ml) will be taken from one of your arm veins shortly before and after the measurement.

Benefits for you

You will receive a free cardiological examination, a comprehensive blood analysis and information on your blood volume status.

Allowance for expenses

No compensation is provided for participation in the study. However, any travel costs incurred by public transportation will be reimbursed. All data is treated confidentially. Please note that your data will be registered when a contact is established. If you are not interested in participating in a study, your data will be deleted immediately. If you would like further information, please contact the address below.
