The research project investigates the health status and effectiveness of treatments for chronic pancreatitis (=chronic pancreatitis)
Aim of the study
Chronic pancreatitis is a long-lasting inflammation of the pancreas. It is a serious condition that can have an impact on your quality of life. Quality of life is impaired, among other things, by the fact that the disease can lead to pain and disruption of the pancreas. This can lead to digestive problems and diabetes, for example.
The causes of the disease vary. The course and severity of the disease also differ from patient to patient, without this being able to be predicted precisely. Therefore, our aim with this study is to document the health status of people with chronic pancreatitis and the effect of treatments on the quality of life, pain and function of the pancreas as well as possible. This will help us to better understand and treat the disease in the future.
Who can take part?
People with chronic pancreatitis
Procedure
Practical procedure:
Study visits only take place as part of medically necessary appointments that are planned anyway. The examinations take place at the University Hospital Zurich in one of the following clinics: Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetology and Clinical Nutrition or Clinic for Visceral and Transplant Surgery. So there is no additional work for you.
Duration for the participant:
The study participation of individual participants lasts as long as the treatment for chronic pancreatitis at the University Hospital Zurich, but can be extended by the participant.
can be terminated prematurely at any time.
Location, number and duration of visits: Participation in the study will not result in any additional appointments or examinations for you. As an exception, we will carry out a blood glucose measurement once a year for 2 weeks using a so-called continuous glucose measurement.
Your family doctor will be informed about your participation in the study.
Compensation
If you participate in this study, you will not receive any compensation.
