The most important facts in brief

Boštjan Humar studied molecular biology at the Biozentrum Basel and obtained his doctorate in genetics. In his postdoctoral period, he moved to New Zealand, where he subsequently worked as a senior research fellow and co-group leader of the gastric cancer group at the University of Otago (Dunedin). After his return 9 years later (and a brief detour into the pharmaceutical industry), he became a research associate at the University Hospital Zurich and took over the scientific management of basic liver research. In 2015, he habilitated in the field of experimental surgery and is now responsible for basic research in visceral surgery. He is interested in the mechanisms of liver regeneration and the biology of diffuse gastric carcinoma.
