Newsweek ranking: Best urology clinic in Switzerland

In the current ranking of the international news magazine Newsweek "The World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2025", USZ Urology was able to distinguish itself as the best urology specialist clinic in Switzerland.

Best urology clinic in Switzerland

Newsweek compiles an annual ranking of the world’s best hospitals. Specialist clinics are also evaluated. This makes perfect sense, as individual clinics within a large hospital can differ greatly in terms of quality. The Department of Urology at the USZ takes first place in this global ranking of Swiss urology clinics. A total of three urology clinics in Switzerland made it onto the ranking list of the 125 best clinics in the world. The University Hospital Zurich is included in a total of 11 out of 12 rankings for specialist clinics and is rated best in Switzerland for a total of six specialist clinics, such as urology.

Evaluation by experts, patients and accreditation

The ranking is determined by a worldwide survey in over 30 countries, in which tens of thousands of medical professionals were asked to make recommendations in their specialty. In addition, accreditation data (e.g. from the German Cancer Society DKG) and results reported by patients are also taken into account. Newsweek carried out the analysis together with the German market research company Statista.

Cutting-edge medicine through innovation and collaboration

The Department of Urology at the USZ can hold its own worldwide, as modern and patient-oriented specialized medicine is implemented here. In addition to innovative procedures, which are often being used for the first time in Switzerland, the focus here is also on careful diagnosis and therapies adapted to the patient’s situation. Decisions are made together with the patient and an interdisciplinary team. The aim is to implement the best treatment for each patient according to the latest possibilities and guidelines. This can also mean that active treatment is not carried out for the time being, e.g. in the case of low-risk prostate cancer.
