New Portfolio Startup: OBaris

We are happy to welcome the newest startup to our portfolio: OBaris - Enabling painless and comfortable delivery of injectable peptide drugs.

OBaris, a Swiss biotech startup, strives to transform the delivery of peptide drugs through its OctoPatch® technology. Co-founded by David Klein Cerrejon, Nevena Paunović, Jean-Christophe Leroux, and Zhi Luo, OBaris is dedicated to providing a painless, sustainable, and patient-friendly alternative for patients depending on injectable peptide drugs. Inspired by the natural design of an octopus sucker, the OctoPatch® is a small, needle-free patch that patients can easily self-apply to the inner cheek. The patch adheres securely for a short time, delivering its therapeutic payload painlessly and conveniently, before being removed. As a platform technology, OctoPatch® is designed to deliver a wide range of peptide and other poorly permeable drugs with minimal waste production. This innovation not only reduces the burden of injections on patients and healthcare systems but also addresses the environmental challenges associated with medical waste.

Besides being a USZ Startup, OBaris is an ETH Zurich spin-off.

We look forward to supporting OBaris in advancing this innovative technology and improving the delivery of peptide drugs.
