Tumor on hand and forearm – treatment

A tumor on the hand or forearm is surgically removed.

Procedure

The tumor or tissue sample taken is examined histologically. This can also be done in a so-called frozen section examination during the operation, so that further measures can be taken during the same operation.

The surrounding anatomical structures or organs may be affected during the operation. Depending on the localization of the impaired structures, functional losses are possible, but this only applies in rare cases.

Aftercare

In the time after the operation, the patient must take care of his or her hand. Manual therapy exercises can be carried out to support the healing process. In most hand operations, the tumor is successfully removed. However, if residues remain in the hand, further surgery may be necessary.
