Procedure scaphoid fracture
Many scaphoid fractures are stable and hardly displaced. In these cases, conservative treatment with immobilization in a plaster cast for eight to twelve weeks can be carried out. Alternatively, these fractures can be screwed through a small incision in the skin (percutaneous). This has the advantage that the patient does not have to be immobilized for so long. If the fracture is displaced, surgery should be performed. The bone is brought back into the correct position and screwed into place. If there is a defect zone in the bone, this must be filled with bone from the end of the spoke.
