Nipple reconstruction

Nipple reconstruction completes a breast reconstruction and makes a decisive contribution to the feminine breast.

Procedure

Reconstruction of the nipple and areola can be achieved using various surgical methods:

  • Local flap plasty (displacement of local tissue)
  • Nipple tissue from the opposite breast in combination with transplantation of full-thickness skin from the groin or tattooing.

We offer all options, but prefer a special local flap plasty that allows the nipple and areola to be reconstructed at the same time. The operation can be performed on an outpatient basis or as a short-term inpatient procedure under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. The pigmentation of the nipple and areola can then be carried out by a cosmetic tattoo artist as a final step.
