Liposuction

During liposuction, unwanted fat deposits are reduced or removed.

Introduction

Fat pads can appear more or less disturbingly in various places on the body, often on the thighs and hips, buttocks, stomach and upper arms. There are also gender-specific differences.

The fat pads in these areas are not in need of treatment per se, but if they subjectively disturb your own perceived body image, they can be treated in a relatively simple way. Unfortunately, this is usually the natural and predisposed distribution of fat, so diet and/or exercise are only of limited benefit.

Procedure

The operation is performed in twilight sleep or usually under a short general anesthetic and is performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis with a short overnight stay. A 3-4 millimeter thick cannula is inserted through small incisions in the skin and the fat is “sucked out” under direct control of the result. The resulting scar is correspondingly small.

Depending on the region, the extent and your own idea of the final result, a lift can supplement or replace liposuction.

Aftercare

Depending on the localization, a type of compression is applied for six weeks. This is done on the thighs, for example, with compression stockings and on the abdomen with an abdominal belt. A follow-up check is usually carried out two weeks after the operation. In general, physical exertion should be avoided for four to six weeks.
