Procedure
In the area of the armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis), attempts have been made to reduce sweating by suctioning the sweat glands (suction curettage). However, according to our experience and data published worldwide, this approach has only led to moderate patient satisfaction. This is often not a permanently satisfactory solution. The results are very individual and can vary from no improvement to the complete disappearance of sweating.
For this reason, botulinum toxin (“Botox”) is now increasingly being injected into the armpit area. Botox blocks the transmission of stimuli at the nerve endings and thus significantly reduces the secretion of sweat. The effect of Botox lasts for around four to six months.
