Procedure
The operation is performed under general anesthesia. On the day before the operation, the surgeon will mark the exact extent and region of the skin and subcutaneous tissue to be removed while the patient is standing. Depending on the planned operation, the skin covering with the fat pad is first removed during the procedure, the navel is “reimplanted” so that it is in the right place again and the remaining abdominal wall is sutured back down. The scar will be in the area of caesarean section scars and will therefore be covered by underwear and bikini. Depending on the case, a combined liposuction can be performed.
Aftercare
An inpatient stay of two to four days is usually required, as tubes are placed under the abdominal wall for one to two days to drain wound fluid and any secondary bleeding. After discharge, a check-up is scheduled two weeks after the operation, where any stitches are also removed. A compression abdominal belt must be worn consistently for at least six weeks. Good scar care with moisturizing creams and massages is also recommended. The period of incapacity to work is two to six weeks, depending on the job. Sports activities should also be avoided for six weeks. The final result can be expected after about six months, after the swelling of the abdomen has subsided.
