Institute of Neuropathology
The work at our institute consists to a large extent of the diagnosis of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system as well as the skeletal musculature. We cooperate with neurology, neurosurgery, other clinical disciplines and general pathology. We are also the National Reference Center for Human Prion Diseases (NRPE) and carry out cerebrospinal fluid and tissue diagnostics for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease for the whole of Switzerland. We conduct research in the fields of prions, neurodegeneration and the development of cancer in the nervous system.
