Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology
We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of tumour diseases of all organ systems. We also diagnose and treat benign changes in the blood and blood coagulation system. Thanks to state-of-the-art analysis technology, we can make precise diagnoses and offer personalized therapies.
Oncology and Hematology – a close partnership
Oncology deals with the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of solid tumors. These include cancers such as breast cancer, colon cancer or lung cancer, in which tumors develop in organs or tissues.
Haematology, on the other hand, specializes in diseases of the blood, bone marrow and lymphatic system. These include leukemia (blood cancer), lymphoma (lymph gland cancer) and other blood diseases. These diseases affect the blood, the blood-forming organs and the lymphatic tissue.
As many of the processes involved in cancer in the blood and organs are similar, oncology and hematology are closely linked disciplines. The close cooperation between the two departments enables holistic treatment of patients with solid tumors, blood cancer and related diseases.
