Bacterial virulence factors Therapy

In order to escape the human immune system, pathogenic bacteria express so-called virulence factors.

A better understanding of how these virulence factors function, what role environmental factors play, but also how these virulence factors can change in the presence of antibiotics, is extremely important in order to adapt the therapy in the best possible way. The increasing spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria worldwide, both Gram-positive (e.g. Staphylococcus ssp. and Streptococcus ssp.) and Gram-negative (e.g. Pseudomonas), requires the establishment of new treatment options.
