Since 2008 the Swiss Transplant Cohort Study (STCS) prospectively enrolls patients who receive a solid organ in Switzerland.
Standardized data collection includes demographic, psychosocial, clinical, laboratory, and treatment information. Data managers in each center ensure timely and high quality collectionat time of transplant, at six months and then yearly thereafter. The STCS is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and other research funds. More than 170 nested projects are performed in the framework of the STCS. In a collaborative effort with the Federal Office of Public Health, the cohort ensures compliance with the requirements of the Swiss law regarding reporting of transplant outcome.
