Our performance mandate

The Institute for Emergency Medicine (NOT) treats primary emergencies.

We are responsible for the timely and competent triage, initial assessment and initial care of emergency medical patients in the emergency department and ensure this (initial assessment).

  • Is responsible for the extent of diagnosis and initial treatment, including pain management and life support.
  • Has responsibility for the treatment of patients during their stay in the NOT.
  • After completing the above points, hands the patients over to the clinics and institutes for further treatment.

The NOT is responsible for

  • Research and medical development in the field of emergency medicine.
  • Ensuring the basic, further and advanced training of NOT employees. In this context, the NOT offers rotation positions for assistant doctors from USZ partner clinics.
