Sonography

Ultrasound - or sonography - is a modern diagnostic examination procedure that makes it possible to look inside the body and detect diseases. Sonography is a harmless and painless examination.

Similar to computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), superimposition-free images are generated. The examination is carried out by an experienced doctor. Our ultrasound devices are top-of-the-range and of the latest generation.

Sonography also plays a major role in the assessment of blood vessels; in addition to statements on structural changes, blood flow can also be assessed using Doppler sonography, duplex, power Doppler, color duplex, triplex. What all these methods have in common is that they are based on the Doppler effect described by Christian Doppler in the 19th century and named after him.

Other modern ultrasound procedures are routinely used by us

  • Elastography (assessment of the stiffness of an organ or tumor)
  • B-flow (special vascular imaging) to assess renal perfusion and blood vessels
  • Cinema and panoramic imaging
  • Contrast medium examinations
  • Intima-media thickness determination for risk assessment of a cardiac event
  • 3D representation of organs

Ultrasound-guided tissue sampling (fine-needle and punch biopsy), placement of drains, wire marking and treatment of tumors including navigation together with our colleagues in interventional radiology.

  • Validation of perfusion
  • Spectral Doppler and elastography on the model and in clinical application
