Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

The Department of Cardiac Arrhythmias at the University Heart Center Zurich offers a two-year fellowship in Interventional Electrophysiology.

The program offers comprehensive training in all aspects of interventional electrophysiology. During this program, fellows acquire the theoretical and technical skills required to care for patients with acute and chronic cardiac arrhythmias.

Our team covers the entire spectrum of clinical care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias in our two state-of-the-art electrophysiology laboratories certified by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).

The fellowship program provides procedural training in diagnostic electrophysiologic procedures and catheter ablation of patients with supraventricular arrhythmias (AV nodal reentry tachycardia, AV reentry tachycardia in the presence of accessory pathways, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation), ventricular tachyarrhythmias (idiopathic or in the presence of underlying structural heart disease); endocardial and epicardial access), as well as arrhythmias in patients with congenital heart disease. In addition, fellows will learn implantation of pacemakers (including leadless devices, stimulation of the conduction system), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (including subcutaneous devices), cardiac resynchronization devices, implantable event recorders, and extraction of devices/cable systems. During weekend and night shifts, the fellows gain invaluable experience in treating complex patients with various cardiac arrhythmias.

For international applicants

Applicants for the Electrophysiological Training Program should present a German language certificate (at least level B2) at the beginning of the scholarship. We will provide you with administrative support when applying for a visa and work permit.

Please note that we do not currently offer financial support or educational scholarships. However, applicants are supported in applying for scholarships (e.g. EHRA scholarship).
