Lipid metabolism disorders Consultation hour

Lipid metabolism disorders are among the most common cardiovascular risk factors. Although the use of statins can be carried out easily and without major side effects in many patients, there are always questions for special patients.

  • Does my patient have familial hypercholesterolemia?
  • What to do in case of statin intolerance?
  • What suggestions can I make if the target range is not achieved?
  • Should I determine lipoprotein(a)?
  • Is my patient a candidate for new therapies such as PCSK9 inhibitors?

Other experts from the USZ, such as Prof. Arnold von Eckardstein, are also available to us. In addition to clarification and improved drug treatment, innovative therapies such as PCSK9 inhibitors or, in rare cases, invasive therapy such as LDL-apheresis can be considered.
