Point of care diagnostics

To save time during sample transportation or sample instability (e.g. blood gases), laboratory diagnostics at the USZ are also carried out directly on patients by clinic staff using small devices.

To ensure quality, these point of care (POC) diagnostics are coordinated by the POCT officer of the USZ, Ms. Susanna Zürrer. She is supported by the POCT Commission, in which the laboratory medicine specialists, including those from the IKC, are members.
