Transmission of findings by A Mail
For patients of the USZ (with patient number), all findings are automatically transmitted to the clinic information system (KISIM) and displayed there.
For external customers, the results are printed out in the IKC, HAD or AKI laboratories and sent by A Mail. If desired, the findings can also be communicated externally by e-mail or HL7 interface. In principle, it is also possible to connect an external hospital information system via the HL7 interface. To register and for further information on this service, please contact the UZL secretariat.
Please note: The UZL secretariat does not provide information on findings.
Confidentiality
Laboratory results are confidential patient documents that are subject to data protection. They may only be viewed by the attending physician. This right can also be delegated to directly responsible nursing staff. Information and disclosure of results and findings to external doctors and persons are only possible with the patient’s consent (exception: referring doctor) and must generally be requested from the attending doctor. The IKC, the HAD and the AKI do not pass on any results to external doctors or persons who have not given the order without the patient’s consent.
Further use of laboratory results for scientific purposes
The IKC, the HAD and the AKI should be informed about the further use of the laboratory results produced by them, e.g. for scientific purposes. When publishing research results obtained with the help of laboratory data from the IKC, the HAD or the AKI, the responsible laboratories should be named and credited. Substantial contributions to a study by researchers from the IKC, the HAD or the AKI should be honored through co-authorships.
In the case of sponsored studies, the IKC, the HAD or the AKI must also be informed that the data will be passed on to third parties and financially remunerated.
