Light therapy

Light therapy is part of the special unit for physical therapies. It is of particular importance in dermatology. We use light therapy to treat various skin conditions - often supplemented with drug treatments or skin care concepts. Photodiagnostics deals with the clarification of light dermatoses.

Application

Applications for the following diseases

  • Atopic dermatitis (neurodermatitis)
  • Chronic hand eczema
  • Exanthematic lichen ruber (nodular lichen)
  • Forms of necrobiosis lipoidica
  • Graft-versus-host disease after bone marrow transplantation
  • Granuloma anulare
  • Lichen sclerosus et atrophicans
  • Mastocytosis of the skin (urticaria pigmentosa)
  • Morphea
  • Pityriasis lichenoides acuta and chronica
  • Pruritus (itching) with various underlying diseases or idiopathic genesis
  • Psoriasis vulgaris (psoriasis)
  • T-cell lymphomas of the skin (mycosis fungoides)
  • Vitiligo (white skin spot disease)

Photodiagnostics

The following clarifications are applied:

  • Light staircase to determine the patient’s sensitivity in the UVA and UVB range
  • Minimum phototoxic dose before PUVA therapy
  • Photodynamic diagnostics
  • Photopatch tests for the diagnosis of photoallergies
  • Photoprovocations for the diagnosis of polymorphic light dermatosis, photoallergies, lupus erythematosus and other light dermatoses
  • Visible light

Irradiation sources

The clinic has a wide “park” of light therapy/diagnostic devices, which is constantly updated according to new technical developments.

  • UV-A1 high-pressure lamps
  • PUVA (psoralen plus UVA) in the form of systemic PUVA, bath PUVA and re-PUVA
  • Red light sources for PDT (photodynamic therapy and diagnostics)
  • Daylight cabin for PDT
  • Narrow spectrum UV-B 311nm
  • UV-A / UV-B
