Research Group Cosimo Bruni

Clinical research in systemic sclerosis is the focus of the group. Specifically, the group has interest in the field of prevention and improved screening of organ involvement (i.e., pulmonary fibrosis -ILD- and pulmonary arterial hypertension -PAH), exploring additional targets of medications (drug re-purposing), the application of radiomic to improve risk stratification and prognosis, as well as implementing personalized medicine, with focus on aging and gender medicine in rheumatic diseases.

Our Projects

  1. Screening for SSc-ILD, developing a supportive algorithm (ILD-RISC)
  2. From ILD progression to SSc-ILD progression: a disease specific initiative (SILPRO)
  3. Exploring radiomics in SSc-PAH, to improve screening and risk stratification.
  4. ILD onset in SSc: characterization of the clinical, radiomic and biologic risk phenotype (PROFILES).
  5. Extra-parenchymal effects of SSc-ILD: focus on pulmonary circulation and airways
  6. Sex versus gender in rheumatic musculoskeletal diseases, to improve clinical practice, precision medicine and personalization of treatment (OPENNESS).
  7. Immunosuppressive and vasoactive medications in SSc: benefits beyond conventional targets?
