Intelligent vacuum-assisted breast biopsy prior to tumor surgery to determine the success of prior chemotherapy (VISION I)

In this study, ultrasound- or mammography-guided vacuum-assisted biopsy is used to detect residual tumor lesions in patients with radiologically complete response (rCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The investigators will evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the vacuum-assisted biopsy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy compared to the sample obtained in open surgery.

Aim of the study

The main objective of the study is to determine the diagnostic accuracy of vacuum-assisted biopsy using complete pathologic specimen evaluation obtained after open surgery to detect residual tissue.

Who can take part?

Patients with breast cancer

Procedure

In this study, ultrasound (US) or mammography (MG) guided vacuum-assisted biopsy is used to detect residual tumor lesions in patients with radiologically complete response (rCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The investigators will evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the vacuum-assisted biopsy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy compared to the sample obtained in open surgery.
