Lymph surgery special consultation

The options for reconstructive lymphatic surgery for various lymphatic diseases such as lymphoedema, chylothorax and seroma are clarified in the consultation. The aim is to determine the best possible treatment for the patient's individual situation through detailed examinations and advice.

In our special consultation for reconstructive lymphatic surgery, the procedure is carried out in several steps. Through this structured process, we want to ensure that you receive the best possible care and find the right therapy for you.

  1. Initial consultation: Your symptoms and medical history will be discussed in detail during a detailed consultation and clinical examination. We want to fully understand your situation so that we can offer you the best possible treatment.
  2. Planning further investigations and diagnostics: If necessary, we will plan additional examinations and refer you to specialized clinics and institutes (e.g. angiology clinic, physiotherapy, occupational therapy). Possible diagnostics include MR lymphography, ultrasound or ICG lymphangiography to obtain an accurate picture of your disease.
  3. Determining the next steps: Together with you, we discuss the possible next steps and determine the next steps. Your wishes and concerns are particularly important to us.

What do I need to bring to the initial consultation?

Please bring the following documents with you for your first consultation:

  • Your current insurance card
  • Your personal ID card
  • Documents on previous preliminary investigations
  • A list of your current medication
  • If lymphatic surgery is planned, an appointment with the lymphological physiotherapist is also required

Aftercare

After the operation, regular check-ups are carried out in our consultation hours (SUED2A) in collaboration with the physiotherapy department. These take place 10-14 days, 3 months, 12 months and 24 months after the procedure. If necessary, additional appointments can be arranged in between.

Intensive physiotherapeutic care is ideally provided before the operation and in the first 3-6 weeks after the procedure to support the healing process and achieve the best possible results.
