Preventive cardiology

Preventive cardiology comprises several special consultation hours, which primarily aim to control and positively influence controllable cardiovascular risk factors, i.e. risk factors that can lead (or have already led) to a heart attack or stroke.

If these eight controllable risk factors were controlled, over 90% of all heart and cerebral infarctions could be prevented.

However, it goes without saying that controlling the eight risk factors is absolutely crucial, especially after a heart attack or stroke has already occurred, in what is known as secondary prevention.

All eight controllable risk factors (hypercholesterolemia, nicotine abuse, stress, arterial hypertension, obesity, diabetes mellitus, lack of exercise, unhealthy diet) are covered by the Preventive Cardiology USZ:
