In addition to the three core clinics, there are close links to many other clinics and institutes at the USZ. A range of services such as those offered at the Spine Center is rarely found in this form. For example, if there is a risk of a narrowing of the spinal cord due to a malignant disease, the specialists from the three core clinics, together with hematology/oncology, radio-oncology, neurology, radiology and neuroradiology, draw up an emergency plan to ensure further treatment. Another example is geriatric traumatology, where specialists in geriatric medicine (geriatrics) accompany the inpatient and outpatient healing process to ensure that the special needs of older people are met.
Spine Center
The Spine Center is primarily supported by the three clinics of Neurosurgery, Rheumatology and Trauma Surgery. The coordination of diagnostics, consultation, therapy and, if necessary, surgical treatment is thus provided from a single source. There is close cooperation with the physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments and all other clinics at the USZ.
