Heart failure area

Despite all the advances in pharmacotherapy and drug therapy, 10,000 patients in Switzerland die every year as a result of heart failure. This means that heart failure accounts for 5% of all hospital admissions in Switzerland, more hospitalizations than all forms of malignant disease combined, and is also one of the most common referral diagnoses at the University Heart Center Zurich. This is demonstrated by the more than 3,000 outpatient consultations and over 7,000 clinical visits by inpatients with heart failure every year.
