Research at the Colorectal Tumor Center

At the Colorectal Tumor Center, we actively conduct research to develop better diagnostic and therapeutic concepts against colorectal cancer. The focal points of our research are:

  • Innovative clinical trials focusing on advanced colorectal cancer and novel forms of treatment that would otherwise not be available to patients in Switzerland.
  • Translational research projects using surplus blood or tissue samples to develop new biomarkers and treatments against colorectal cancer. A lighthouse project of the CCCZ is investigating the influence of the tumor microbiome, i.e. the individual composition of the intestinal bacteria of tumor patients on the response of immunotherapies. Another project is dedicated to the development of resistance under molecularly targeted therapy of a particularly aggressive subset of colorectal cancer.

The Colorectal Tumor Center is certified according to the strict guidelines of the German Cancer Society.
