The most important facts in brief

Prof. Turina completed his surgical training in Zurich and, towards the end of his specialist training, spent several years as a research fellow at the University of Louisville, KY (USA) under the direction of Hiram C. Polk, MD. On the scientific side, he specialized in the field of surgical infections and was awarded the Venia Legendi of the University of Zurich in 2010. After working as a trauma surgeon at the University Hospital Zurich, he specialized clinically through a fellowship in the field of colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio (USA). One year after his return to Switzerland, he now heads the colorectal team with a focus on colorectal carcinoma and chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
