On March 21, 2023, the teams of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich (CCCZ) took the new premises of the USZ outpatient clinic into operation. “We are very pleased that we can now offer our patients not only our medical expertise but also a very pleasant environment with a lot of comfort,” says Prof. Markus Manz, Director of the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology at the USZ. His team welcomed the first patient with a bouquet of flowers.

Added value for patients

The new outpatient clinic covers more than 2,000 square meters and is located right next to the main USZ entrance at Rämistrasse 100. A total of 30 day-therapy-places, the unit for collecting blood stem and immune cells, and 17 examination and treatment rooms are available, as well as a large, centrally located waiting area.

The often seriously ill cancer patients come to this outpatient center and day clinic for their infusion therapies or chemotherapies, for example. Depending on the treatment, they spend between 30 minutes and 8 hours on site. While a large part of the space is available for oncology patients, a smaller part of the space is used for infusion therapies for non-oncology patients from other clinics. A large team of medical specialists and oncology experts is available to patients for assessment, consultation and treatment. Together, they coordinate the diagnoses and individualized treatment plans for each patient in the weekly tumor boards.
